Security Briefing - 28 March 2011

The following security providers were present at this morning’s meeting, NYPD, 24/7, SAMBU, Core, ADT and CSS, CHUBB and Fidelity were absent.

The rape of a High School Student took place on Friday morning between 07h30 and 09h00. The student was on the way to school. The taxi driver did not drop her off at her stop and continued on to the Botanical gardens where an accomplice held her while the taxi driver raped her.

A robbery took place at about 14h30 on Westcliff drive which has been identified as a problem area again.

The following security providers were present at this morning’s meeting, NYPD, 24/7, SAMBU, Fidelity, Core ADT,and CSS, CHUBB was absent. The operation on Friday night was very successful and a big thank you to those CPF members that attended, It was indeed an eye opening experience. Thank you to Sushil for the supply of our reflective jackets and to Sean for our identity cards. It was a pleasure to work with the police and to see that all the security providers also pulled their weight, not only with personnel but also with the numerous vehicles at their disposal.

A special thank you by the Colonel goes to ADT for their excellent backup on Friday night at a raid. The presence of the other security providers (NYPD and CSS) was also recognised.

City Parks - Online Satisfaction Surveys

Johannesburg City Parks launched online Customer Satisfaction Surveys on the 1st of December last year.

The main objective behind the project is to get customer feedback on issues related to Parks, Conservation areas, Street trees and Cemeteries. Previously the surveys were conducted manually by going to different facilities but a decision was taken to launch online survey as way to try to reach as many customers as possible. Feedback from these survey helps us to improve services.

CPF Security Briefing - 15 Feb 2011

This morning’s briefing addressed a very important issue which is creating a problem for our security partners especially in the areas of Parkhurst and Park Town West, parties or functions, by residents, are been held from which cars are stolen during such event. 

Upon further investigation it seems as if the hosts of these events/parties are not arranging with their security providers that a guarding service which is often available is not been utilised, in fact in most instances the security providers are the last to know. 

Dial the Pothole Brigade

Dial Direct, in partnership with the Johannesburg Roads Agency, The Gauteng Provincial Department of Roads and Transport and Lead SA have joined forces to tackle Joburg's pothole problem

Since Dial Direct launched The Pothole Brigade, they have filled almost 4 000 potholes in and around Joburg! You can report potholes on their website or store their dedicated USSD number, *120*1551# (std USSD rates apply) in your cell phone so that you can give them a heads-up while you are out and about.

 

Pirates Annual Road Race - Sunday 20 Feb

It is the time of the year for the Pirates Sports Club Annual 21km Road Race. It will take place on Sunday 20th February 2011.

The race starts at 7am. Pirates has made a request to the announcers to keep the noise level down early in the morning.  The whole event will be finished by 11h30 at the latest.
